Pastoral Profile
- Must have the Love of Jesus Christ in their heart and soul
- Be a person of unquestionable character, living a life in accordance with the word of God
- Must agree with the Statement of Faith and abide by the By-laws of this church
- Be compassionate, caring and able to give biblical counsel with confidence and discretion
- Apply biblical principles to everyday life and help others to do so
- Ordination preferred but not required
- Able to minister to adults and children alike
- A Bible college related degree or seminary degree, or continuance toward that degree, is required
- The candidate should have a history of effective preaching, Bible teaching, and leadership Duties: The Pastor is accountable to the church for fulfilling the following
- Works with Consistory members to define a vision for the congregation that grows out of their study of the Scriptures, and their prayer life until it becomes the shared vision of both the Senior Pastor and the Consistory by consensus
- Conducts or oversees all services on Sunday, Holidays and such other days as the Congregation desires
- Serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Consistory
- Serves as an Ex-Officio member of all other committees and organization at recommendation of the Consistory and/or at the request of special committees
- Shall officiate weddings and funerals
- Council prospective couples before officiating their wedding
- Set a good example for the congregation by maintaining spiritual disciplines including but not limited to Bible reading, prayer, tithing and spiritual retreats
- Model the speech and behaviors of Christ and be transparent and repentant when behavior falls short of Christ
- Administers the Holy Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion
- Works with the Youth Coordinator and the Christian Education Committee to plan, implement and evaluate the congregation’s program of Christian education.
- Directly involved in leading the Confirmation program of the congregation
- Provides biblical counsel to all members of the congregation, paying special attention to the distressed, the grieved and the afflicted within the congregation
- Supervises the paid staff of the congregation
- Represents the congregation to the Needville Community through the Needville Ministerial Alliance and the Needville Senior Citizens Group
- Supports and upholds the Bylaws and the Statement of Faith of the congregation This position offers a salary and benefits TBD at time of call.
